Joana Liu was born in Houston, Texas, and is now based in Pittsburgh, PA, pursuing a B.F.A in Art and Human-Computer Interaction at Carnegie Mellon University. Her work is centered around three primary components: nostalgia, interactive installation, and parallels. Digital fabrication in laser cuts and prints, as well as crumbling projection and audience-based work, have culminated in recent exhibitions in Redfishbowl, The Frame Gallery, and Lawndale Art Center across Houston, Austin, Texas, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Her inspirations rise from her perceptions of common culture and a desire to draw curiosity into being.
